Taylor Creek rises four miles east of Rumley in eastern Lampasas County (at 31°11' N, 97°59' W) and runs south nine miles to its mouth on the Lampasas River, a mile southeast of Kempner (at 31°04' N, 98°00' W). The surrounding steep slopes and benches are surfaced by shallow clay loam that supports juniper, live oak, mesquite, and grasses. The creek was probably named for Charles M. Taylor, a local landowner.
