SSG Kristofer Raymond Ciraso, 26, was killed in action on Dec. 7, 2006, while on patrol in Iraq.
Funeral services were Dec. 18 at First Baptist Church in Lampasas with Dr. Rick Willis officiating. Burial followed at Central Texas Veterans Cemetery in Killeen with full military honors.
SSG Ciraso was born April 25, 1980, to Paul Ciraso and Lois Russell.
He grew up in Massachusetts and Maine, graduating from Bangor High School in 1999, where he was involved in the Junior ROTC program.
SSG Ciraso was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, at Fort Hood, where he was a leader of the unit known as the Black Knights.
SSG Ciraso is survived by a daughter, Liberty Leighann Murdock, of Fort Hood; his fiancee, Tracy Murdock, of Fort Hood; his parents, Paul Ciraso, and wife, Nancy, of Lampasas; grandparents, Claire Wilson, of Lampasas, and John Ciraso, of Massachusetts; a sister, Trisha Ann Ciraso, of New York; a half-sister, Barbara Barnett, of Pennsylvania; a niece and nephew, Bianca and Kendall Ciraso; and his mother, Lois Russell, of Tennessee.
The family requested memorials be made to First Baptist Church Christian Education Scholarship Fund, 402 S. Key Ave., Lampasas, TX 76550.
